People don't read apps. They scan them. Every extra word creates another opportunity to leave.
INSIGHT

THE CHALLENGE
CES Connect is a conference app used during CES events. Sponsor visibility and attendee value both depend on engagement, but the working product still needed content design so people could use the app fast.

I led content design for the app, rewriting and restructuring key in-app content with UX/UI so the experience was clearer, quicker, and easier to act on.Â
THE INSIGHT
App users want a seamless, easy to understand experience that doesn't require excessive onboarding.
THE STRATEGY
Treat every screen as a decision point. Every headline, button, notification, and sponsor placement should help users understand what to do next with as little effort as possible.Â
✓ Map copy to screen, states, and timing (what shows up when)

✓ Write for scanning and action

✓ Integrate sponsor value naturally into the user journey

✓ Partner closely with UX/UI to test, iterate, and refineÂ
THE EXECUTION
UX Audit
Audited the live app to spot where people would hesitate, misread, or miss key features.
Â
Content Design
Rewrote and re-ordered in-app content so core actions were obvious at a glance (UX-first, not "more words").
Â
User Flows
Identified the highest-impact flows to fix first: onboarding tips, sponsor placements, and notifications.
Â
Guidance & Education
Wrote scripts and directed walkthrough tutorials to reduce drop-off at high-attention moments.
Â
Sponsor Experience
Protected sponsor value by designing placements that felt useful and relevant — never intrusive.
EXAMPLE: ONBOARDING TIP COPY

Scannable. Clearer. Focused on action.
ENGAGEMENT IN ACTION
Following the redesigned experience, attendees engaged with the app in meaningful ways across every part
of the conference.
21,559
DIGITAL COLLECTIBLES EARNED
Attendees explored the venue, completed challenges, and returned to the app throughout the event.
15,322

VENDOR CONTACTS SAVED
QR scanning became a core behavior, making the app a valuable networking tool for attendees and sponsors.Â
1,712
SOCIAL POSTS SHARED
The in-app social feed became an active community where attendees shared experiences in real time.
1,855
CITY'S GOT TALENT VOTES
Live event participation continued inside the app, extending engagement beyond the stage.
1,032
PIG RACE BETS PLACED
Gamified moments encouraged repeat visits and made the app part of the conference entertainment.
Clearer content and intentional UX turned the app into more than a schedule. It became the central part of the conference experience.

KEY TAKEAWAY
When content is clear, purposeful, and aligned with user intent, people act with confidence. That's where engagement and sponsor value naturally flow.
